Anarchy In America: When the Country Is Fed Propaganda and Misinformation, This Is the Result
May 28, 2020
Over the last several days America has been in turmoil—especially in our major cities. So-called peaceful protesters and rioters have descended upon these cities for the purpose of obtaining justice for George Floyd. Mr. Floyd was unjustly deprived of his life by a bad cop. What makes this particular crime even more egregious is that, during the nine minutes that it took for Mr. Floyd to die, three other bad cops looked on and did nothing.
The officers involved in the murder of George Floyd were fired almost immediately. It took several days, but Officer Chauvin, who was personally responsible for Mr. Floyd’s death, was finally charged with third-degree murder. He was charged with that crime not because the authorities were trying to go easy on the officer, but because there was insufficient evidence at the time to charge him with a more serious offense.
When these protests first began the mantra was that the officer responsible for the death of Mr. Floyd should be charged. It is my belief that any right-thinking person would agree with that. So when Officer Chauvin was finally charged with third-degree murder, it was my hope that the protests and the rioting would end. As we all now know that didn’t happen. The protesters then decided to move the goal posts and the new mantra became that the officer should have been charged with first-degree murder.
This demonstrates the blatant ignorance of many people in this country regarding our legal system. It is my understanding that Officer Chauvin was not charged with first-degree murder because, in the opinion of those bringing the charges, there was not sufficient evidence to get a conviction on that charge. It is also my understanding that if the jury fails to convict, the officer would walk.
In the past few days the charge against Officer Chauvin has been upgraded to second-degree murder. This was done based on new evidence that would support a conviction on that charge. This occurrence is not unique to this case. It happens fairly often that when new evidence is uncovered, the charges against the defendant are either upgraded or downgraded depending on the evidence.
When the new charge of second-degree murder was filed, did the rioting stop? Absolutely not. In fact, one could argue that it actually intensified. This should make it abundantly clear to everyone that these protests are no longer about George Floyd. These protests are now being managed by professional anarchists and other left-wing groups. The tens of thousands of young people who are participating in these protests are being used and manipulated by these groups for political purposes. They are, in the words of Lenin and Trotsky, the “useful idiots” of today. Many of these people are ignorant, weak-minded people who are easily led and easily manipulated, which explains why they blindly go along with whatever they are told to do.
More evidence of just how ignorant of our legal system these people are is that Officer Chauvin will eventually be charged with federal civil rights violations. If convicted of these charges, Officer Chauvin will be facing some serious additional time. The point here is that former Officer Chauvin will not see the light of day for many, many years to come. It is my hope that this will satisfy the lust for justice or revenge, whichever the case may be. Even if the peaceful protesters are satisfied, the rioting and looting may still continue. In any case, it will take years for these legal proceedings to work their way through the courts. I made a comment to a friend a few days ago regarding this matter: It was simply that the wheels of justice turn slowly in this country, but 99% of the time the resulting verdict is the correct one. We need to let the system work.
After the first few days of these protests, the atmosphere turned to rioting, looting, and walking away with as much loot as one could carry. The people who were there to peacefully protest took a back seat to the rioters and the looters. I was reminded of the Democratic philosophy of “Never letting a good crisis go to waste.” You taught them well Rahm.
When I converse with young people, I am sometimes amazed at the level of ignorance they display. These young people picture themselves as so adult, so knowledgeable, and so sophisticated, when in reality they are very inexperienced and downright ignorant. How could they be otherwise? They haven’t lived yet. Many of them don’t even support themselves. These people are tearing down the very institutions that give them the right to protest—or in this case, riot.
All this rioting and destruction is not completely the fault of young, inexperienced “useful idiots.” It is also, in large part, the fault of the political morons that we the people have elected to run our major cities and some of our states. If you have been following the events of the last several days it should be quite evident to all that those who have been put in charge of running our major cities are the reincarnation of the Roman Emperor Nero who played the fiddle while Rome burned. I would also characterize the elected officials who are running our major cities as “useless idiots”—ones whose main objective is to get reelected.
These mayors, local legislators, and some governors have tied the hands of police, making it impossible them to do their job and restore order. These politicians who care more about getting reelected than doing their job have put law enforcement officers in harm’s way—as if the officers were expendable. In addition, it has become the policy of some of these municipalities to release convicted criminals back out onto the streets, allowing them to commit additional crimes against law-abiding citizens.
The newest outrage that these city government officials have imposed on their citizens is the no-bail policy. In New York City, for example, the police have arrested thousands of protesters, rioters, and looters over the last several days. Since there is a no bail policy in New York City, these people, with some exceptions, have been given an appearance ticket and released. They have been set free to go and rejoin the fray.
Incompetent judges and local prosecutors have shown a higher level of compassion for these criminals than for the victims that are being preyed upon. These feckless judges will probably release these rioters and looters with little or no bail, depending on the seriousness of the offense. I would bet real money and give odds that many of those released with or without bail will never show up for their court date. This would be especially true for the bad actors that have come in from out of state. Those that do show up for their hearing will most likely receive a slap on the wrist or be fined. In today’s America this is what passes for meting out justice.
Some police officers have been seen taking a knee with protesters or even marching with them. Holding hands and sweet talking these protesters is not going to solve the problem. It is not the protesters who are killing and wounding cops and civilians. They are not the people who are causing the problem. The video and the corresponding sound bite may look really great on TV, but they accomplish little or nothing. If you believe that ANTIFA cares, for one minute, whether the police take a knee or march with the protesters, you are delusional.
It will take strong action on the part of the police and the National Guard to bring this rioting and looting to an end. It will also take convictions in court and tough sentences for those who are convicted. These sentences should be extremely harsh, especially for those who have killed or injured police officers or civilians.
What other choice is left? To do nothing will only embolden these criminals to do more harm. Either allow the police to do their job or take them off the street and out of harm’s way. Maybe the mayors and their staffers can go out into the street and quell the violence. Let me know how that works out. Mayor Frey of Minneapolis could give us some insight on that subject.
After fifty years of liberal policies and leadership in most if not all of our major cities what is the result? The inner cities have become slums and war zones and the schools are barely functional. Drug dealers conduct business largely unrestrained. The business just goes on from generation to generation. The police—instead of being authority figures in the neighborhoods—are now targets. They are harassed by the very people they are paid to protect. Some have even been shot and killed while sitting in their patrol car eating lunch. Is it any wonder that 65% of all police agencies nationwide are finding it difficult to recruit new officers to replace those that are retiring or leaving law enforcement because they’ve had enough? Honestly, in today’s environment, who in their right mind would want to be a cop in any of our major cities?
What will become of our inner cities when the number of police officers dwindles to the point where there are just not enough people to do the job? Who will protect those vulnerable people who live in the inner cities? These people are in the worst possible position. Eventually, there will be few if any police available to protect them from the local criminals, and they will be unable to move to a safer neighborhood because they lack the necessary resources to leave. These are the people who need police protection the most, and yet they will be abandoned.
In this current crisis, as with other instances of black citizens being shot by white police officers, the word “racism” is immediately tossed around by black activist groups and other left-wing radicals. The media is complicit in this as well.
Is it always correct to characterize the shooting of a black citizen by a white police officer as racist when it is factually true that some of those shootings were justified? For those instances where the shootings were not justified, is it correct to label those killings as systematic racism? Is it not possible that it is more accurate to put the blame where it belongs—namely, with the actions of a few bad cops? Are there racist cops? Yes. Is racism a systemic problem in police departments across the country? No.
The narrative of the Black Lives Matter organization (and other left-wing radical groups) is that America is a racist country, and that a genocide is taking place against the African-American community. In my opinion, which is based on the following statistics, this premise is totally false. What makes this narrative so despicable is that it is dividing the country and portraying it in a bad way—a way that, according to the statistics, is simply not accurate. What makes this even worse is that the media is totally on board with this false narrative. They fan the flames by continually reporting the trope that there is systemic racism in America.
Does racism exist in America? Of course it does. Is it pervasive throughout our society? Absolutely not. The truth is that a very small percentage of black citizens are killed by police. The real carnage is taking place in the African-American communities themselves. I say this because according to Politifact, over the last forty years, between 1980 and present day, over 90% of the African Americans that have been murdered in the US have been murdered by other African Americans. That doesn’t sound like systemic racism or genocide to me. Given the fact that these statistics come from an organization such as Politifact, I give them a good amount of credibility.
Another conclusion that I was able to glean from these statistics was that these murders are taking place in African-American communities all over the country. Where is the outrage in these communities? Don’t these black lives matter? Are black people who are shot by white police officers the only black lives that matter? If so, why is that?
It is my understanding that the mission of Black Lives Matter is to save black lives. Here again, does that mean all black lives or just those killed by white police officers? It would seem to me that if their intent was truly meant to save black people from being murdered, they would be much better served, and save many more lives, by concentrating their efforts on saving the thousands of black Americans who are murdered every year by other black Americans. Focusing their attention and their resources towards lowering the level of black-on-black murder would be a much more productive use of their efforts and resources.
When you consider that over the last forty years more than 250,000 black Americans have been murdered by other black Americans, it makes perfect sense that organizations such as Black Lives Matter should be focusing more of their attention on lowering the number of murders within the African-American communities throughout the country.
Finally, it should be noted that at least eight members of law enforcement, three of whom were African American, were murdered by rioters. One of these individuals was a 77-year-old retired police captain from St. Louis. This man served his community for 38 years. I didn’t see any news coverage of his funeral. To date, I have not heard anyone from any of the various protest groups mourn the loss of these individuals or send condolences to their families. Maybe the organization known as Black Lives Matter should change its name. A more appropriate name would be: Just Some Black Lives Matter.
